Whip up this cocktail in 5 minutes flat! Just have your glass chilled first :)

Looking for a cocktail that does not require making a simple syrup, muddling fruit or any persnickety executions? This is it! The hardest thing about this cocktail is crushing ice and seeding the pomegranate. Aside from the time it takes to chill your glass, this drink comes together in a few minutes and can be savored almost immediately after thinking to yourself “It’s 5 o’clock!”

Special Equipment for this recipe:

None to speak of . . . Just some really nice cocktail glasses that are preferably chilled.

Tips and Tricks for this recipe:

If you don’t have shaved or crushed ice on hand, take some ice cubes and put them in a plastic bag. With a heavy pan or a meat mallet, smash the ice to small bits (thinking about all the things you can’t stand in your life and smashing them along with the ice).

Do use a good quality Pomegranate juice that is 100 percent Pomegranate for the best flavor. You can substitute with cranberry or a berry blend, but it won’t be as tart.

To de-seed a pomegranate, cut the fruit in half, then submerge under water to bend the skin back and pluck the seeds out. Any residual white pith will float to the top of the water and can be skimmed out, while the seeds remain at the bottom of the water. Strain the seeds and dry them off with a towel.

Can I make this non-alcoholic?

Yes! Omit the vodka and use seltzer instead of Prosseco.
