Sausage and Peppers

Iconic street food at it's best!

Go to any fair, festival or boardwalk and the number one food item is always Sausage and Peppers! These are iconic. Hot or sweet sausage stuffed into a hoagie roll with soft and squishy onions and colorful peppers of red and green. Yum.

Special equipment for this recipe?

Just a heavy bottomed skillet with a lid will do the trick. I also pop the sausages in the oven for a bit, but you can do the whole cook in a skillet, if you don’t want to heat up your oven. You can also do them on the grill!

You could also make the recipe in a crockpot!

Can this recipe be made in advance?

Yes, you can cook the entire recipe in advance then, when you want to serve, just warm up in the oven or in a skillet or even on the grill. You may loose some of the juiciness of the sausage in reheating, but if you keep them moist with the onions and peppers and, another splash of marinara, beer of broth, you should be good.

Can this recipe be frozen?

Sure, why not? See above for re-heating instructions.
