Playing with butane was never so rewarding!

So creamy . . . so crunchy. It’s heaven in a bowl. THE most classic dessert and outside using a blow torch, what’s not to love?

Special equipment needed for this recipe?

Yes, you will need 4 same size ramekins that are oven safe and, blow torch safe. Speaking of blow torches, you’ll need one of those too. If you purchase them online, know that they will not come with the propane. You’ll need to source that from a home improvement store or restaurant supply.

I’ve never had success crisping up the sugar under the broiler, but it can be an option to purchasing a blow torch. . . .

Can this recipe be made ahead?

Yes! Best to make the custard at least one day before you brûlée. The hard brûlée shell will not keep if it is stored more than an hour or two in the fridge, so best do that prior to serving.

Can this recipe be frozen?

No.
